JIMMY BEGINS ASSEMBLING THE DINOBOT, HERSTMONCEUX, VILLAGE, SUSSEX

EXT. GARDEN SHED - DAY

Sunlight gleams on a brand new, wonderfully spacious wooden shed in the backyard. JIMMY (12, beaming) is inside, happily organizing tools. Suddenly, a cheerful "DING-DONG!" sounds from his laptop, immediately followed by a different, but equally happy tune from his Samsung phone.

JIMMY
(Gasps, his eyes wide)
It's here! It's finally here!

He scrambles out of the shed, racing across the garden and into the house. He nearly skids on a colorful Chinese carpet in the hall but catches himself, a wide grin plastered on his face. He bursts through the front door.

EXT. FRONT PORCH - CONTINUOUS

A friendly DELIVERY MAN (40s, wearing a DPD uniform) stands on the porch next to a large white van. He's holding a small cardboard box.

DELIVERY MAN
(Smiling)
Morning! Delivery for Mr. Tim Watson. Got quite a few heavy packages here.

He hands Jimmy the smaller box.

JIMMY
(Excitedly, clutching the box)
Oh, thank you, Mr.! Dad's not in. Do you need a signature?

DELIVERY MAN
Nah, lad, just a picture. This the right address?

He shows Jimmy the label.

JIMMY
(Nodding vigorously)
Yes! That's right!

DELIVERY MAN
(Chuckles)
I know that, son. Been delivering here for years. It's in our database!

The driver walks to the back of his van, heaving and shoving several much larger and heavier boxes onto the tailgate. He lowers it just a little, then hops down with surprising ease.

DELIVERY MAN (CONT'D)
(Wiping his brow)
This takes the grunt out of deliveries!

He grins at Jimmy as he picks up a big box with strong plastic straps. He sets it gently on the porch step. Jimmy tries to lift it, but it's much heavier than it looks. The driver laughs kindly.

DELIVERY MAN (CONT'D)
Don't worry, son, I'll shift it for you. Where do you want 'em?

JIMMY
(Pointing)
Well, they have to go into the shed in the back garden! But I can sort that out!

DELIVERY MAN
(Looking down the side passage, where the garden gates are open)
Not a problem, lad. Is that your workshop?

JIMMY
(Beaming with pride)
Yes, it is!

The driver, who didn't look particularly strong, easily carries the heavy cardboard packages down the drive, into the garden, and places them neatly on the path outside Jimmy's magnificent new workshop. It takes him three trips.

DELIVERY MAN (CONT'D)
(Whistling, impressed)
Nice shed, lad! Who built that?

JIMMY
(Grinning wider)
Believe it or not, my Mum and Dad put it together! Dad designed it!

DELIVERY MAN
(Eyes wide)
Your Mum? Marion, isn't it? Thought she was an artist! She taught me sometimes in Hailsham!

JIMMY
(Shaking his head in wonder)
I know, incredible! Took to the power tools like a duck to water! Called it "industrial art"!

Just then, the house phone rings.

JIMMY (CONT'D)
(Holding up a finger)
Excuse me a moment, Mr.!

Jimmy dashes inside. He returns quickly.

JIMMY (CONT'D)
Sorry about that! Looks like I have another delivery coming in a few minutes!

DELIVERY MAN
(Smiling)
Better let you get on then, young man!

JIMMY
(Waving)
Thank you for your help, Mr.!

The DPD driver waves back and heads off, whistling.

Jimmy is practically vibrating with excitement, dying to open the boxes, when a large white Luton van pulls up outside. He momentarily forgets the boxes and races to the van. Two men hop out and open the roller-shutter door at the back.

LUTON DRIVER 1
Delivery for Mr. Watson!

JIMMY
(Grinning)
That's us!

LUTON DRIVER 2
From Aluminium Warehouse?

JIMMY
(Nodding)
Yes! We ordered some alloy tubing!

The men pull out three enormous cardboard tubes. One is incredibly long, nearly five meters, and ten centimeters wide. The other two are four meters long and twelve centimeters wide. They have neat white plastic caps on the ends. Jimmy has never seen such gigantic packaging!

LUTON DRIVER 1
(Shouldering a tube easily)
Where do you want 'em, mate?

JIMMY
(Pointing)
If you wouldn't mind, just along that drive, in front of the shed, please!

The two men deftly carry the long tubes to the shed and place them carefully with the other cardboard boxes.

LUTON DRIVER 2
(Chuckles)
Looks like Christmas down there!

JIMMY
(Smiling to himself, his heart doing a happy dance)
You could say! I hope so! Thanks to AW, incredibly fast delivery! Only ordered two days ago!

Just then, a bright red Parcel Force van pulls up.

LUTON DRIVER 1
(Waving to Jimmy)
You've got another delivery! See you, mate!

JIMMY
(Waving goodbye)
Thanks again!

He gazes at the neat cardboard tubes, itching to peek inside.

EXT. JIMMY'S DRIVEWAY - CONTINUOUS

The Royal Mail chap emerges from his van, grunting as he heaves a small but surprisingly heavy cardboard package.

ROYAL MAIL DRIVER
(Straining slightly)
Heavy, this one! What's in it, I wonder?

JIMMY
(Proudly)
Stainless steel fixings and stuff from Screwfix!

The delivery man spots the growing stack of deliveries near the shed.

ROYAL MAIL DRIVER
(Whistling)
With that lot?

JIMMY
(Grinning)
Yes, please!

ROYAL MAIL DRIVER
(Chuckles)
Looks like Christmas!

JIMMY
(His eyes twinkling)
Funny you should say that! It is for Christmas, in a way!

Finally, Jimmy is alone with his treasures. His heart pounding with anticipation, he carefully cuts the adhesive tape on one of the first boxes with a pair of scissors.

INT. JIMMY'S WORKSHOP - CONTINUOUS

JIMMY
(Eyes wide)
Wow!

Inside are smaller boxes of parts, plastic bags overflowing with gleaming machined fittings, tiny computer components, miniature motors, and gearboxes.

He opens another box. Inside, he finds two powerful motors, speed controllers, and chain sets. These are actually electric bike conversion kits and a large lithium-ion battery! Jimmy didn't order any new steel, as he'd cleverly scavenged discarded pushbikes from the scrap yard – perfect for their bearings, hinges, and even handlebars!

In a third box, he discovers a sleek radio control set: a transmitter (or handset) and a small, black receiver (the 'Rx'). The receiver will go on the Dinobot, receiving commands from Jimmy. This will allow him to remotely control the robot for movements not handled by its own smart computer brain, like walking forward, turning, and reversing! The transmitter, with its cool twin joystick levers and switches, is a racing ten-channel masterpiece! He'll have to learn how to use it, but he knows he'll master it.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
(Warm, encouraging)
Learning to control a robot is a bit like learning to fly a drone! You start with simple movements, guiding it carefully. Jimmy had practiced with smaller toys, like radio-controlled cars and even a little drone his Dad bought him years ago. He'd learned to avoid crashing into furniture and could park perfectly – all the skills he'd need for his giant Dinobot!

Jimmy pictures his robot coming to life. In movies like Jurassic Park, the amazing dinosaur special effects are controlled by lots of people working together – moving eyes, jaws, and heads. Jimmy knows he'll need to upscale the already large frame and legs by about ten times! This is where his welding and fabrication skills will come in handy, which is why he loves metalwork at school!

His Mum, the artist, has shown him how to sculpt huge objects, and he's worked out how to use special epoxy and polyester resins with chopped strand matting and woven cloth to create molds. He's particularly fascinated by carbon fiber, because it's super strong!

The components are starting to spread out, taking up a lot of room. Jimmy realizes he needs to organize them onto shelves and into labeled drawers. The initial burst of excitement settles into a focused determination. This is no longer just about opening presents; it's about logistics and project management! He'll need to get those long alloy tubes into the workshop right away, just in case it rains – England, after all, is famous for its sudden showers!

Jimmy closes the large wooden gates to the drive, granting himself privacy. No more deliveries, for now. Just him, his dreams, and a mountain of parts waiting to be transformed into something truly magical.
