The air in the village of Herstmonceux was so crisp it felt as though it might snap like a ginger biscuit. High above the Sussex Downs, the stars were polished to a brilliant shine, looking down on the Watson household where a very secret operation was underway in the garden workshop.

“Now, remember the rules, Anthony,” Jimmy whispered, his breath puffing into a silver cloud. “Mum was very firm. She said this was a family holiday. No projects, no coding, and definitely no giant robotic Australian Bulldog Ants.”

Beside him, Anthony’s iridescent blue-black armor shimmered in the dim light of the workshop. The Dinobot tilted his head, his multifaceted amber eyes glowing with a soft, thoughtful light. To anyone else, Anthony looked like a marvel of forbidden engineering, but to Jimmy, he was a loyal friend with a heart made of quantum processors and kindness.

ANTHONY (His voice a low, melodic hum) “Observation: I am a member of the family, Jimmy. My database defines ‘family’ as a social unit living together. Also, my sensors indicate that Scotland contains 31,460 freshwater lochs. The probability of you needing a Dinobot for aquatic exploration is 98.4%.”

Jimmy grinned, patting Anthony’s cool, metallic thorax. “I knew you’d say that. But you have to be a stowaway. That means the ‘Dormant Cargo’ protocol. Can you do it?”

“Initiating ‘Luggage Mode,’” Anthony chirped.

It was a sight that would have made a Swiss Army knife jealous. With a series of precise whirs and soft clicks, Anthony began to fold. His long, powerful legs tucked neatly into his chassis; his formidable mandibles retracted into a sleek frontal housing, and his abdomen compressed until he was no longer a towering insectoid guardian, but a compact, rectangular block of high-tech machinery.

Jimmy hoisted the folded Dinobot—who had thoughtfully used his internal grav-levelers to make himself feel no heavier than a suitcase—and lugged him out to the driveway. The Watsons’ Volkswagen Kombi camper van, a cheerful vehicle the color of the ocean, sat waiting under the frost.

With a bit of huffing and a lot of help from Anthony’s suction feet, Jimmy managed to get the Dinobot onto the roof rack.

“Perfect, Anthony,” Jimmy whispered. “Now, cloaking on.”

“Hold that position,” Jimmy commanded softly. “And keep your heaters on low. I don't want you frosting over and looking like a giant ice-cube.”

ANTHONY (A tiny, muffled sound from beneath the tarp) “Scanning... Temperature regulated. Stealth maintained. I shall remain as silent as a Scottish moss-grown stone.”

The next morning, the sun rose over a world turned white with hoarfrost. Tim Watson was already humming to himself, doing the ‘Dad-Dance’ around the VW Kombi. He checked the tire pressures with a professional squint and dipped the oil stick as if he were measuring liquid gold.

“It’s just nice to be visiting your cousin, Mum,” Jimmy said, and for once, it wasn't a total lie. “I’ve got a feeling this is going to be a trip we’ll never forget.”

“Too right!” Tim cheered, sliding the heavy side door shut with a satisfying thunk. “Destination: Drumnadrochit! Loch Ness, here we come!”

CHAPTER 21	SCRIPT 21	The Sussex Horizon – The VW Kombi trundles back down the M1. The secret is safe, the family is closer than ever, and on the roof-rack, an invisible Anthony watches the stars, dreaming of the deep water.

Having enjoyed a wicked Christmas in Herstmonceux, Jimmy's mum, Marion and dad, Tim, decide to take a Scottish vacation to visit Marion's cousin, near Loch Ness. A road trip in her trusty Volkswagen Kombi Camper van. They set off just after Boxing Day, to arrive before New Year's Eve, for a reunion, having fitted winter tyres and installed a heater in the VW. They make it up the M1 to Edinburgh, and M90 to Inverness, then back down to Drumnadrochit. Where 'Rhona MacLeod' lives alongside Loch Ness.

Anthony, travels on the roof-rack, using his cloak of invisibility to remain undetected. The trip is uneventful, the VW performing well, even in a snowy blizzard, that soon clears near the famous Loch. It turns out that Rhona is a scientist. She has been studying the Loch for signs of the Monster of legend. Once reunited and settled in, Rohna tells that she has photographed the elusive monster, but nobody believes her. A famous debunker, 'Angus Campbell', discredits Rhona publicly. Calling her crazy, to even think such a legend could have any roots in reality. Anthony, the Magic Dinobot, who is not supposed to be on this trip, spots the monster in the Loch through a mist, with his incredible AI sensors, telling Jimmy, secretly. Jimmy keeps this to himself. Marion and Tim support Rhona in principle, but are somewhat skeptical. Although, they love the idea of the legend, having been brought up on the story. Then Marion realised that Anthony has been a passenger, and scolds Jimmy. Then forgives him, when Jimmy reveals that the dinobot has seen the monster.

Tim does not believe the dinobot, but when out on the banks of the Loch, in the mist, the monster reveals itself to Antony, attempting to communicate with the AI robot, and they kind of speak to each other, the dinobot deciphering the monsters grunts and songs. Marion, Tim and Jimmy see this, and are spellbound, but know nobody will believe them. So, agree to keep it a secret.

Then, an investigative reporter, Charley Temple, visits to report on the sighting, for Jill Bird, at the BBC World News. There is enough evidence to keep the legend alive, and Charley, a fan of Jimmy from when he won a coding prize for his work on AI, tends to believe him and Rhona, keeping the legend alive. Charley spots the dinobot when creeping around at night, but decides to keep this to herself, to protect Jimmy and Rhona. Then, Angus Campbell's boat is found out on the Loch, with claw marks, and harpoons onboard, but no Angus. His body is never found. This is reported on by Jill Bird at the BBC and it goes viral, the mystery remaining a mystery. The family return home safely, vowing to keep their encounter with the monster a secret.
