JIMMY
WATSON
-
On the shores of Loch
Ness in the Scottish Highlands, Jimmy watches his magic Dinobot
communicate with the legendary creature, using advanced AI.

THE
PREDATOR IN THE NIGHT
The moon hung low over the water, a pale, cold coin shimmering against the ink-black surface of the Loch. Mist curled along the shoreline like living breath, twisting into ghostly shapes that seemed to dance and then vanish.
In the shadows of a ramshackle jetty, Angus Campbell was a man possessed. Fueled by Dutch courage and a lifetime of bitterness, he tinkered with his modified Herring Drifter. He had replaced the chugging
diesel with a small electric outboard—a silent, predatory upgrade.
"Aye, that should do it," Angus grinned, his teeth glinting in the dark. He patted the heavy, iron whaling harpoons stacked in the hull next to his illegal sonar-disruptors. "The world’s going to see you tonight, beastie. One way or another."
He launched the vessel with a quiet splash. As if the Loch itself were trying to hide its secrets, a thick, white fog began to roll in, swallowing the shoreline. But Angus only gripped the tiller tighter. "Och, I’ll not let a bit of damp distract me. I’m coming for you."
A few miles away at "Whispering Bay," the atmosphere was electric with tension. Anthony, the
Magic
Dinobot, dived into the water with the grace of a kingfisher.
Almost immediately, the AI began to pulse. A series of melodic clicks and low, resonant vibrations rippled from his chassis—a metallic whale song that sounded both ancient and impossibly advanced. The Watsons,
Rhona, and
Charley stood frozen on the bank, straining to hear a response.
Silence.
Anthony breached the surface, his mechanical eyes dimming. “No response, Jimmy. The frequency is clear, but the depths are silent.”
"What in tarnation?" Tim muttered, his skepticism finally crushed by the sheer weight of the moment. "Is she... gone?"
"Come on, Nessie," Jimmy whispered, his hands clenched into fists. "Please answer."
Deep below, the Monster was far from gone. She was coiled in a limestone crevice, her great heart thudding against the silt. She could hear Anthony’s digital calls, and she knew they were friendly—but she also heard the high-pitched, agonizing whine of Angus’s sonar. To answer would be to scream her location to a hunter. She remained a shadow within a shadow.
“Jimmy,” Anthony’s voice crackled through the comm-link. “I sense a vessel. High-frequency disruptors are active. The harpoons are a kinetic threat. Permission to intervene defensively?”
"How so, Anthony?" Jimmy asked.
"What is he asking, darling?" Marion whispered, clutching her coat.
Rhona’s eyes sharpened. "No harm must come to Angus, Jimmy. No matter how beastly he's being."
"Don't worry, Rhona," Jimmy insisted. "Anthony can’t harm a human. It’s hardwired. He can only protect."
"Aye," Rhona nodded slowly, "the Three Laws of Robotics. A bit of old-world logic in a new-world mess."
Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet hummed. A low-frequency vibration traveled through the pebbles of the bay.
"Did you feel that?" Tim gasped.
"She’s close," Marion breathed, her eyes fixed on the water.
Anthony’s glow intensified, shifting from a calm sea-blue to a sharp, pulsing Warning Red.
"Oh dear," Charley said, her voice trembling. "Red usually means 'run,' doesn't it?"
"It means something is very wrong," Jimmy replied.
Across the water, a harsh spotlight suddenly cut through the mist like a glowing blade. The hum of the electric motor was getting louder.
"He’s using the disruptors," Rhona said, her voice tight with panic. "If he keeps that up, the noise will be like a physical blow to her. It’ll drive her into the shallows where she’s trapped!"
Jimmy stepped toward the water’s edge, his face set with a courage that defied his years. "Then we have to get out there. Now."
"And how do you plan on doing that? Swimming?" A voice rumbled from the shadows.
Hamish MacGregor stepped into the moonlight, a lantern swinging in his hand. He gestured toward a weathered wooden boat tucked into a hidden boathouse. "I thought you might need a wee hand. She’s not fast, and she’s seen better decades... but she’s made of wood and grit. She won’t show up on Angus’s fancy scanners."
Charley beamed. "Hamish, you’re a legend!"
"Aye," the giant winked. "Don’t tell anyone. I’ve a reputation as a grump to maintain."
They scrambled aboard, the boat sitting low in the water. Jimmy took his place at the bow, Anthony perched on his knees. As Hamish pushed off, the boat glided into the mist, a silent ghost chasing a predator.
Suddenly, Anthony emitted a sharp, urgent trill. “Distress detected. The Biological Entity is experiencing extreme fear.”
"She’s scared, Hamish," Jimmy cried.
"Not for the first time, lad," Hamish replied grimly.
A deep, mournful call suddenly echoed from beneath the hull. It was a sound of pure sorrow, a vibration that rattled their very teeth.
"That’s her," Marion whispered, tears springing to her eyes. "She’s calling for help."
The spotlight from Angus’s boat swept across the fog just yards away. "He’s hunting blind," Charley whispered. "If he gets a visual, it’s all over."
Jimmy looked down at the glowing Dinobot. "Anthony, tell her we’re coming. Tell her she’s not alone!"
Anthony’s chest plate slid open, releasing a soft, bioluminescent beam into the dark water—a beacon of hope. The Loch answered with a massive ripple. A shadow, vast and graceful, moved beneath them.
"She’s right under us!" Rhona gasped.
Then—BOOM.
An explosion of water and sound rocked the Loch. Angus had fired a warning charge to flush the creature out.
"The maniac!" Jimmy shouted, nearly falling overboard.
"He’s trying to scare her into the open," Charley realized. "But that means he still doesn't know exactly where she is!"
Jimmy stood up, balancing at the prow. "Hamish, get us between them! Anthony, maximum shield frequency! We have to be her armor!"
The small boat surged forward into the heart of the mist, heading straight for the deadly spotlight of the
predator.

PLOT
OUTLINE:
Having
enjoyed a wicked Christmas in Herstmonceux, Jimmy's mum, Marion and dad,
Tim, decide to take a Scottish vacation to visit Marion's cousin, near Loch Ness. A road trip in her trusty
Volkswagen Kombi Camper
van. They set off just after Boxing Day, to arrive before New Year's Eve, for a reunion, having fitted winter tyres and installed a heater in the VW. They make it up the M1 to Edinburgh, and M90 to Inverness, then back down to Drumnadrochit. Where 'Rhona MacLeod' lives
alongside Loch Ness.
Anthony, travels on the roof-rack, using his cloak of invisibility to remain undetected. The trip is uneventful, the VW performing well, even in a snowy
blizzard, that soon clears near the famous Loch. It turns out that Rhona is a scientist. She has been studying the Loch for signs of the Monster of legend. Once reunited and settled in, Rohna tells that she has photographed the elusive monster, but nobody believes her. A famous debunker, 'Angus Campbell', discredits Rhona publicly. Calling her crazy, to even think such a legend could have any roots in reality.
Anthony, the Magic Dinobot, who is not supposed to be on this trip, spots the monster in the Loch through a mist, with his incredible AI sensors, telling Jimmy, secretly. Jimmy keeps this to himself. Marion and Tim support Rhona
in principle, but are somewhat skeptical. Although, they love the idea of the legend, having been brought up on the story. Then Marion realised that
Anthony has been a passenger, and scolds Jimmy. Then forgives him, when Jimmy reveals that the dinobot has seen the monster.
Tim does not believe the dinobot, but when out on the banks of the Loch, in the mist, the monster reveals itself to Antony, attempting to communicate with the
AI robot, and they kind of speak to each other, the dinobot deciphering the
monsters grunts and songs. Marion, Tim and Jimmy see this, and are spellbound, but know nobody will believe them. So, agree to keep it a secret.
Then, an investigative reporter,
Charley
Temple, visits to report on the sighting, for Jill
Bird, at the BBC World News. There is enough evidence to keep the legend alive, and Charley, a fan of Jimmy from when he won a coding prize for his work on
AI, tends to believe him and Rhona, keeping the legend alive. Charley spots the dinobot when creeping around at night, but decides to keep this to herself, to protect Jimmy and Rhona. Then, Angus Campbell's boat is found out on the Loch, with claw marks, and
harpoons onboard, but no Angus. His body is never found. This is reported on by Jill Bird at the BBC and it goes viral, the mystery remaining a mystery. The family return home safely, vowing to keep their encounter with the monster a secret.
