Rhona is a formidable intellectual equal to Jimmy, making their partnership even more powerful. They get on like a house on fire. When Anthony (the Magic Dinobot) arrives on the scene, his sensors are far more advanced than anything the "Keepers" have encountered. He can see through the "Peat-Cloud" and detect the creature’s unique bio-signature.

A conflict arises because Rhona wants the Scientific Truth to be known to vindicate her career, but she slowly realizes that the Keepers are right: the only way to keep the monster safe is to keep the world convinced it’s a lie.

CURRICULUM VITAE: Professor Rhona MacLeod

Current Residence: Kelpie’s Rest Cottage, Drumnadrochit, Inverness-shire. Position: Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Marine & Freshwater Biology (Honorary) / Independent Lead Researcher for the Loch Ness Longitudinal Study.

## PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

A dual-disciplined scientist with over 20 years of field experience, Professor MacLeod is a leading authority on "relic populations"—species that have survived beyond their suspected extinction dates. While highly decorated in international academic circles for her work on deep-sea biodiversity, she is a controversial figure in her native Scotland. Her rigorous, sensor-based approach to the Loch Ness phenomenon is often attacked by "debunkers" as a waste of resources and feared by local traditionalists who worry that a scientific "answer" might destroy the profitable mystery of the legend.

## EDUCATION & ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

PhD in Evolutionary Biology – University of Edinburgh

Thesis: Sub-thermal Adaptation in Isolated Post-Glacial Freshwater Environments.

MSc in Palaeontology – University College London (UCL)

Specialization: Marine Reptiles of the Mesozoic Era (Plesiosauria and Ichthyosauria).

MSc in Marine Science & Technology – University of Southampton / National Oceanography Centre

Specialization: Advanced Hydro-Acoustics and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs).

## KEY RESEARCH & FIELD WORK

The Deep Eye Project: Designed and deployed a custom-built, 24-hour sonar-link grid across the Urquhart Bay trench.

eDNA Pioneer: Conducted the most extensive environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling of Loch Ness to date, identifying several previously uncatalogued microbial signatures.

The "Relic" Theory: Published a controversial paper in Nature regarding the possibility of deep-trench thermal vents in Loch Ness supporting large-bodied biomass.

## TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Marine Sensors: Expert in side-scan sonar, multibeam echosounders, and thermal imaging.

Sub-Aqua Logistics: Licensed ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) pilot.

Bio-Acoustics: Specialist in deciphering low-frequency aquatic vocalizations.

## AWARDS & MEMBERSHIPS

Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB).

Recipient of the Darwin Medal (2022) for contributions to Evolutionary Theory.

Member of the Explorers Club (New York).

## PERSONAL INTERESTS & NOTES

Restoration: Currently restoring "Kelpie’s Rest," a 19th-century crofter’s cottage inherited from her grandfather.

The "Sussex Connection": Despite her academic life, she remains fiercely proud of her cousin, Marion Watson, often citing Marion’s surfing championship titles as proof that "the MacLeod water-gene is the strongest in the family."

Skepticism: Has a zero-tolerance policy for "cheap hoaxes" or "blurry camera-phone sightings," which has led to a long-standing and public feud with the local debunker and media personality, Angus Campbell.
