THE
LOCH NESS MONSTER
The MacLeod Refugium Theory, which Rhona
MacLeod has been quietly piecing together in her cottage laboratory,
beside Loch Ness.
The "Great Glen Refugium" Theory
1. The Biological Reality: The "Boreal Plesiosaur"
Rhona theorizes that the creature is a descendant of a branch of the Plesiosauria family that didn’t go extinct 66 million years ago. Instead, this specific species adapted to the cooling oceans of the north.
The Gills of the Deep: Unlike their ancestors, which had to surface for air, Rhona’s "Nessie" has evolved pharyngeal respiration (similar to some species of soft-shell turtles). It can extract oxygen directly from the water through specialized tissues in its throat, allowing it to stay submerged for months at a time in the freezing, peat-stained depths.
The Peat-Cloud Camouflage: The Loch is famously dark due to high tannin levels from the peat. The creature’s skin has evolved to be bioluminescent-absorbent, meaning it doesn't reflect sonar pings or light. It is effectively a "stealth" animal.
2. The Geological Secret: The "Fault Line Tunnels"
Loch Ness sits directly on the Great Glen Fault, a massive tear in the Earth’s crust. Rhona has found evidence of "hydro-thermal vents" at the very bottom of the 700-foot-deep trench.
The Warmth below the Ice: These vents provide a constant source of heat and support a unique ecosystem of deep-water eels and crustaceans that the monster feeds on.
The Sea-Gate: She believes there are ancient, collapsed limestone tunnels that occasionally pulse with the tides, connecting the Loch to the Moray Firth. This allows for "genetic refreshing"—occasional travelers from the deep sea entering the Loch, explaining why the population hasn't become inbred.
3. The Social Shield: The "Keepers of the Trench"
This is the "Scooby-Doo" mystery element. Rhona has discovered that the local families—the MacLeods, the Fraziers, and the MacDonalds—have known the truth for centuries.
Strategic Disinformation: Whenever a truly high-quality photograph is taken by a tourist, the "Keepers" (disguised as helpful locals) immediately leak three or four obvious hoaxes to the press (like the famous "Surgeon’s Photo" which was a toy
submarine). By flooding the media with fakes, they ensure the scientific community laughs off the real evidence.
The "Debunker" Shield: Ironically, the most aggressive debunkers (like Angus Campbell) might actually be part of the secret. By publicly shouting that the monster is "crazy talk," they discourage serious government or corporate expeditions from bringing in the heavy equipment that would actually find the creature.
The Silence Pact: The locals view the creature as a "Land Spirit" or a "Kelpie" that protects the Highlands. To them, exposing it to the world means it would end up in a lab or a theme park. Protecting its secrecy is a sacred duty passed down from grandparent to grandchild.
Rhona
MacLeod is the scientist trying to prove Nessie exists, against local debunker and media personality, Angus
Campbell.
But soon realizes she needs to bury her research proofs, to keep the
monster safe.

THE MAGIC DINOBOT
- From Jameson Hunter, an
original TV series idea, germinated in 2016. Jimmy dreams of building a giant
robot ant as a special project, then one day his dreams come true when the robot he
has built is transformed into a living, breathing, companion. NOTE:
