THE
WATSON FAMILY -
On a road trip to
Glastonbury, the magic Dinobot picks up signals left by Merlin the
Magician, from Ley Lines pointing to Camelot.
Inspector Basil Rathbone takes command of Scotland Yard's most advanced
mobile command control vehicle, based on a Ford Transit van, that is also
marketed as a Volkswagen. The covert operations wagon is called "The
Eye."
"The
Eye" is equipped with the latest satellite tracking systems and other
listening in devices, with AI
computer systems to allow Sergeant Mitch Miller to track the Watson family
as they follow clues along Ley Lines, following a heads up from Anthony,
the magic AI Dinobot. This is a covert operation, where the Inspector
believes that Tim and Marion are treasure
hunters, and that treasure
trove rules may apply, if they find anything of value and fail to
declare it.
His
Sergeant does not share the views of this boss, not quite understanding
the motives for the Inspector's beliefs. Though, still carrying out the
orders of his mentor, while bringing a sense of balance and fair play,
into the equation.
Police in the United Kingdom use a wide range of operational vehicles, including compact cars, powerful estates and armoured police carriers. The main uses are patrol, response, tactical pursuit, and public order policing. Other vehicles used by British police include motorcycles, aircraft, and boats.
Linked
to traffic and city cameras, the police can track suspects effectively, in
the most serious cases, tracking with satellites.
Incident response vehicles (IRVs) are used by UK police to respond to emergencies and to conduct proactive patrols. They are fitted with blue lights and sirens to warn other road users and pedestrians that they need to make way for the police vehicle.
IRVs will generally carry equipment and lighting for use at traffic incidents, such as traffic cones, warning signs and basic first aid equipment. Many response cars in the UK now also carry mobile technology which can be linked to police databases and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology.
During the 1960s-70s, many police forces started buying foreign cars due to the unreliability of domestic vehicles. In 1965, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary purchased four Volvo 121 Amazons. In 1972,
Thames Valley Police and Derbyshire Police bought the first BMW police cars in the UK, the BMW E3 3.0Si's, followed by West Mercia Police in 1974. Following that, many Volvo and BMW cars have been used as police cars.
Most roads policing vehicles are rated as 'high-performance', requiring traffic officers to undergo additional driving training to the 'advanced' standard. Officers are also commonly trained in Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC) which is the umbrella term for pursuit tactics (e.g., HoSTyDS, boxing, static stop).
Police vans are widely used across the United Kingdom and incorporate a cage to hold prisoners.
Larger vans are also used to act as mobile control room at major incidents, and may also carry specialised equipment such as hydraulic door entry and cutting tools. Minibuses are used to carry groups of police officers, for example to public order and major incidents, and for inner-city patrols, such as the Metropolitan Police's Territorial Support Group. The minibuses are usually fitted with riot shields to protect the windscreen from damage, or reinforced glass.
EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
An emergency operations center (EOC) is a central command and control "coordination structure" responsible for managing emergency response, emergency preparedness, emergency management, and disaster management functions at a strategic level during an emergency. Based on the organizational needs of the entity that has implemented the EOC, as well as the emergency being dealt with, the specific responsibilities and tasks executed by a given EOC may vary vastly and could include ensuring the continued operation of a municipality, company, public or emergency service, or other organization.
When an EOC is operated in a vehicle such as a truck or trailer, or is otherwise capable of moving quickly (or being operated while moving), it is usually called a mobile command center (MCC), mobile command unit (MCU), or mobile forward control facility.
